The energy we use in our daily living, such as to drive our car or run our business releases harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This gases not only pollute the air (by releasing carbondioxide emissions), but also accelerate global warming which causing the Earth’s climate to change.
Scientists concluded that the more impacts of the uses of such energy are that the glaciers are receding, the earth’s ice caps are melting, and powerful and destructive storms are becoming more frequent. Bloggers, I’m so sure that you already know it, too. But, do you know the way we can participate to avoid, reduce, and eliminate carbon emissions from our atmosphere to save our planet?
We can participate to change the planet for the better. Here are some tips of "eco-habits" that will help us reducing our carbon impact and encourage sustainable living. Energy conservation - Electricity, a few small changes can make a big difference: *)
- Use energy efficient appliances, and turn off appliances at the wall instead of using standby;
- Clean your furnace filter, regularly ;
- Please, unplug any electronic device that has a transformer, such as TV, cell phone charger, computer, etc.;
- Turn off your computer monitor when not in use;
- Use energy-efficient CFL bulbs, and save up to 78% on energy costs. Please note that CFLs have the added advantage of lasting ten times longer than traditional bulbs. And, because you won't have to replace them as often, you'll create less landfill. Replacing one 70 watt bulb with a 9 watt LED - save 2.27 Kg / month.
- Install dimmer switches in your home, since they can reduce energy consumption by up to 20%. Additionally, motion sensor lights on the exterior of your home can provide energy savings by switching lights off automatically when not detecting movement. Timers are also an effective way to reduce energy consumption. They can be programmed to use electricity only when it's needed.
- Consider to install a programmable thermostat, since it can allow you to save up to 33% on energy costs.
- As an alternate source of energy, use solar panels .
- Using Ceiling fans can save far less energy than the air conditioner.
